Racing Incident Report
WINNING BULLET was a little slow to begin, then shortly afterwards lost further ground as a result of being steadied when crowded for room between CALCANDO and BOLD WIN. GLOBAL WIN began awkwardly, shifted in, bumped the hindquarters of SPARKLING STAR and lost ground. Near the 1300 Metres, BOLD WIN was steadied when crowded for room inside CALCANDO which at this time was carried in slightly by WHIPLASH (Apprentice C K Tong) which shifted in when not properly clear. Apprentice Tong will be reprimanded and told to exercise greater care. Approaching the 1200 Metres, CIRCULAR MACHINE became unbalanced when bumped by CONESTOGA which shifted out after being crossed by WHIPLASH. F Coetzee (CALCANDO) pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding [Rule 100(1)] in that approaching the 1200 Metres he permitted his mount to shift in when not clear of SUMMERVILLE POWER, causing that horse to be carried in which in turn caused crowding on its inside to GOOD PARTNER which as a result lost its rightful running and was checked. WINNING BULLET, which was following GOOD PARTNER, was steadied in consequence. F Coetzee was suspended from riding in races for a period to expire on Thursday 28 September 2006 on which day he may resume race riding (2 Hong Kong racedays). The commencement of the suspension was deferred until after the Happy Valley racemeeting next Wednesday 20 September 2006 . In addition, F Coetzee was fined 40,000 in lieu of a suspension for a period incorporating one further raceday. After the 1200 Metres, CIRCULAR MACHINE, which was inclined to lay in, was steadied away from the heels of CONESTOGA which shifted out. Near the 1100 Metres, GOOD PARTNER, which was proving difficult to settle, shifted out away from the heels of SUMMERVILLE POWER, causing LUCKY DRAGON to be carried wider. On straightening, WISE LOVER was steadied when disappointed for running between CIRCULAR MACHINE and STRAIGHT VICTORY. Shortly after this, WISE LOVER shifted in when not quite clear of WINNING BULLET which as a result was momentarily steadied. At the 400 Metres, BOLD WIN became unbalanced when close to the heels of GOOD PARTNER. Approaching the 200 Metres, WISE LOVER, which was endeavouring to improve into a narrow run on the inside of STRAIGHT VICTORY, was checked when STRAIGHT VICTORY was carried in slightly by GLOBAL WIN (Apprentice K L Chui) which when giving ground shifted. As the Stewards were satisfied Apprentice Chui stopped riding and straightened his mount, no action was taken. Also approaching the 200 Metres, WINNING BULLET was steadied when unable to obtain clear running. An inquiry into the reason for BOLD WIN being checked at the 100 Metres will be held prior to the Happy Valley races next Wednesday 20 September 2006. The Stewards will interview M Odendaal, the rider of LUCKY DRAGON, prior to the Happy Valley races next Wednesday 20 September 2006 regarding the tactics adopted on the horse today. WISE LOVER was sent for an official veterinary inspection and sampling. A veterinary inspection of WISE LOVER after the race did not show any significant findings. WINNING BULLET and GOOD PARTNER were sent for an official veterinary inspection. After the race, WINNING BULLET was examined by the Veterinary Officer. He said there were no significant findings other than the horse had lost its right front plate. A veterinary inspection of GOOD PARTNER after the race did not show any significant findings. SPARKLING STAR and CALCANDO were sent for sampling. After the race, the Veterinary Officer reported BOLD WIN had lost its right front plate.
