Racing Incident Report

CLASSABOVE was withdrawn on 26.9.06 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (right fore tendon injury) and was replaced by Standby Declared Starter DON RICARDO (B Prebble). Before being allowed to race again, CLASSABOVE will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. NOBLE SILENCE was slow to begin. Passing the 700 Metres, HAPPY CRUSADER was steadied away from the heels of WHIPLASH. Passing the 150 Metres, MOVE IT was checked when disappointed for running between MR COOL and HAPPY KID, both of which were weakening. MOVE IT was then shifted to the outside of HAPPY KID to continue going forward. Near the 100 Metres, CHINSOLA was checked when crowded for room between SEASONS KNACK and DON RICARDO (B Prebble) which got its head on the side and shifted out away from HAPPY CRUSADER which also shifted out slightly. B Prebble was reprimanded and advised in similar circumstances he must make every endeavour to keep his mounts in a straight course. When questioned, N Ryan (SMACKO) said he had been instructed to have the horse travel where it was comfortable but hopefully to be in a position behind runners with cover. He added SMACKO began only fairly, then failed to muster speed and with the fast early tempo of the race SMACKO was obliged to race further back in the field than was anticipated. HAPPY CRUSADER was sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of HAPPY CRUSADER after the race did not show any significant findings. DORDENMA and WHIPLASH were sent for sampling.
