Racing Incident Report
In the early and middle stages, SOLAR EMPIRE proved difficult to settle. Near the 1400 Metres, GOLCONDA was checked to avoid the heels of SOLAR EMPIRE (Apprentice K W Tsui) which shifted in when not properly clear. Apprentice Tsui was severely reprimanded and told to exercise greater care. Approaching and passing the 200 Metres, CELEBRATION was held up and had difficulty obtaining clear running when following ALICE TOO. At the 150 Metres, KING HESPERUS, which was giving ground, was checked when crowded for room inside ALICE TOO which shifted in after having initially shifted out and making contact with CELEBRATION. The performance of GOLCONDA, which tailed out, was considered unacceptable. Before being allowed to race again, GOLCONDA will have to perform competitively in an official barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. G Mossé (REGAL THRILLS) was unable to offer any explanation for the poor performance of the horse. He said he rode REGAL THRILLS quietly as is usual, however, today when asked for an effort after straightening REGAL THRILLS failed to close the race off as it had in the past. REGAL THRILLS was sent for an official veterinary inspection and sampling. GOLCONDA was sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of REGAL THRILLS and GOLCONDA after the race did not show any significant findings. PRIME SCORE and CELEBRATION were sent for sampling.
