Racing Incident Report
After arriving at the saddling stalls, it was noted MAGIC CHARIOT had lost its left front plate. MAGIC CHARIOT was re-plated and examined by the Veterinary Officer who said in his opinion it was suitable to race. After being boxed, HORACE'S CHOICE became fractious. HORACE'S CHOICE was removed from its stall and examined by the Veterinary Officer who said in his opinion it was suitable to race. HORACE'S CHOICE then proved difficult to re-box. Before being allowed to race again, HORACE'S CHOICE will have to perform satisfactorily in a stalls test. On jumping, TOFFEE and MR COOL blundered. Shortly after the start, SOLAR MIGHTY got its head up and lost ground. With the intention of being ridden with cover, MAGIC CHARIOT was taken back in the early stages and then proved difficult to settle. In the early stages, SUPER CEE JAY was taken across behind runners from the outside gate. At the 800 Metres, ROYAL PERICLES was steadied away from the heels of MEDIC POWER. At the 600 Metres, SUPER CEE JAY was steadied away from the heels of MAGIC CHARIOT. At the 400 Metres, MR COOL was bumped by ASIAN CITRUS which at this time shifted to the outside of DRAGON AND GOLD into clear running. For some distance after the 400 Metres, HORACE'S CHOICE was held up and unable to obtain clear running, then for some distance after this hung in. At the 300 Metres, SUPER CEE JAY was shifted out away from the heels of WONDER KID which was giving ground. Over the concluding stages, ADD THE FUN was awkwardly placed inside the heels of TOFFEE and because of this was not ridden out to the end of the race. For the major part of the race, WONDER KID hung out. S Dye (MAGIC CHARIOT) confirmed he had been instructed to ride the horse in a position with cover if possible. He said when being ridden forward in its recent starts at Happy Valley MAGIC CHARIOT had failed to finish the races off in a satisfactory manner. He said today in accordance with his instructions he shortly after the start took hold of MAGIC CHARIOT to prevent the horse having an opportunity to over-race. He said as a consequence MAGIC CHARIOT travelled further back than its intended position in midfield. He said MAGIC CHARIOT did over-race and as a consequence only finished the race off fairly. S Dye said MAGIC CHARIOT is still showing its inexperience in races and will be better suited when it learns to settle. MEDIC POWER and ROYAL PERICLES were sent for sampling. After the race, it was reported MR COOL had sustained a bleeding wound to the right hind cannon.
