Racing Incident Report

LE ROSSIGNOL was slow to begin. After the 1200 Metres, FANTUZZI was steadied away from the heels of SUPER DANA. Approaching the turn at the 1000 Metres, FANTUZZI commenced to over-race when being steadied away from the heels of SUPER DANA which shifted out and caused crowding to CARRY GOOD NEWS which as a result lost ground. GOLD FIELD, which was following FANTUZZI, was steadied away from the heels of that horse. After entering the Back Straight, FANTUZZI, which continued to prove difficult to settle, got its head up, shifted in and was steadied away from the heels of SUPER DANA. FANTUZZI then shifted out and caused crowding to CARRY GOOD NEWS. Making the turn at the 600 Metres, FANTUZZI was steadied and shifted in to avoid the heels of FORTUNE WARRIOR which was steadied away from the heels of SUCCESSIVE GAINS. Prior to straightening, TACTIC KING commenced to give ground and finished tailed out. TACTIC KING was sent for an official veterinary inspection. After the race, TACTIC KING was examined by the Veterinary Officer. He said the horse was displaying an irregular heart beat. Before being permitted to race again, TACTIC KING will have to perform satisfactorily in an official barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. In the early part of the Straight, FORTUNE WARRIOR, which was hanging in, was steadied away from the heels of TACTIC KING. For the major part of the race, MASTERY was left racing wide and without cover. Apprentice H W Lai (SUPER DANA) explained approaching the 1200 Metres he rode his mount along in an endeavour to maintain his position on the inside of EVERGREEN, however, SUPER DANA did not respond to his riding and as a consequence EVERGREEN was able to shift to the fence in front of him. S Dye (GOLD FIELD) explained in the Home Straight the horse hung out which is not unusual. He said after saving ground making the Home Turn by staying on the inside, he rode GOLD FIELD along hands and heels and after the 200 Metres commenced to ride along with the whip. He said GOLD FIELD immediately shifted ground, obliging him to stop riding and straighten his mount. Y T Cheng (RIGHT FRAAR) explained near the 1600 Metres when he was shifting his mount across behind MASTERY, RIGHT FRAAR became unbalanced in its action, blundered badly and as a consequence lost a considerable amount of ground. He said after this he allowed RIGHT FRAAR to become rebalanced, then near the 800 Metres RIGHT FRAAR again became unbalanced in its action. He said after this he eased RIGHT FRAAR out of the race. Mr J Size, trainer of RIGHT FRAAR, was unable to offer any explanation for the performance of RIGHT FRAAR. He said RIGHT FRAAR performed in a similar manner at its most recent start which was also at Happy Valley. He said after that run RIGHT FRAAR had performed satisfactorily in both track work and an official barrier trial. Before being permitted to race again RIGHT FRAAR will be required to perform satisfactorily in two consecutive official barrier trials and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. MASTERY and RIGHT FRAAR were sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of MASTERY and RIGHT FRAAR after the race did not show any significant findings. SUCCESSIVE GAINS, EVERGREEN and CONNOISSEUR'S LOVE were sent for sampling.
