Racing Incident Report
AMAZING CHOICE began awkwardly, bounded in the air and lost ground. EVER KING was slow to begin and then lost further ground when being steadied away from the heels of AMAZING CHOICE. In the early and middle stages, CHEERFUL HAPPINESS travelled wide and without cover. After the 700 Metres, SHINING DAY commenced to hang out and gave ground. As a consequence of this, FOREVER RICHES, which was following, lost ground. At the 500 Metres, FOREVER RICHES was steadied when crowded for room between SHINING DAY and EVER KING which at this time shifted out. When FOREVER RICHES was steadied, SUNNY RIVIERA, which was following, was checked and shifted in to avoid the heels of that horse. In the Straight, BAAZIGAR hung in, at the 100 Metres shifted ground, causing some crowding to TRAVEL LEADER. Because of this, C K Tong, the rider of BAAZIGAR, stopped riding and straightened his mount. The performance of BARRACUDA, which tailed out, was considered unacceptable. Before being allowed to race again, BARRACUDA will have to perform competitively in an official barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. B Prebble (NAMJONG GOODLUCK) was unable to offer an explanation for the poor performance of the horse. He said the manner in which NAMJONG GOODLUCK travelled until the 700 Metres gave him an indication the horse would figure in the finish. He said however shortly afterwards the horse began to offer no response and in the Straight was disappointing in the manner in which it failed to close the race off. SHINING DAY, NAMJONG GOODLUCK and BARRACUDA were sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of SHINING DAY, NAMJONG GOODLUCK and BARRACUDA after the race did not show any significant findings. FOREVER RICHES, WONG'S SUCCESS and EVER KING were sent for sampling.
