Racing Incident Report
FASTER FASTER was slow to begin. HEALTHY CONTENDER was slow into stride and then making the turn at the 800 Metres was steadied away from the heels of DAYLIGHT EXPRESS. Despite being ridden along in the early stages, NOBLE ZOOM failed to muster, then making the turn at the 800 Metres was steadied away from the heels of DIAMOND FLYER which steadied to allow SUPER RED to cross. In the middle stages, DAYLIGHT EXPRESS hung out. Apprentice T H So (HOT SUN) explained he had been instructed to lead on his mount or if he was unable to do so to travel in a forward position. He said HOT SUN, which was dropping back in distance today, after beginning a little awkwardly failed to show its usual early speed in today’s track conditions. He said after having ridden HOT SUN along until approaching the 1000 Metres when it became apparent to him the horse would not be able to obtain its intended position, he elected to steady his mount in an endeavour to have it travel comfortably. He said after passing the 800 Metres HOT SUN was left racing wide and without cover and in the Straight disappointed in the manner in which it failed to close the race off. He said HOT SUN may be better suited on firmer tracks than that of today’s. HOT SUN and NOBLE ZOOM were sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of HOT SUN and NOBLE ZOOM after the race did not show any significant findings. FAST WINNER and TOP SPEED were sent for sampling. After the race, the Veterinary Officer reported that DIAMOND FLYER had lost its right front plate
