Racing Incident Report

Shortly after the start, VENI VEDI VICI, which began awkwardly, was steadied away from the heels of VITAL FLYER which shifted out. Also shortly after the start, BLAZE KING and WATCH WHAT HAPPENS were steadied when crowded for room between ROYAL PERICLES and DYNAMIC BLITZ which was taken out by SUNNY GOLF. Near the 1100 Metres, ROYAL PERICLES shifted in and bumped DYNAMIC BLITZ, resulting in ROYAL PERICLES becoming unbalanced. Making the first turn, BLAZE KING, which had been awkwardly placed between DYNAMIC BLITZ and WATCH WHAT HAPPENS for some distance, was steadied when crowded for room between those horses, both of which shifted slight ground. In this incident, BLAZE KING shifted out across the heels of DYNAMIC BLITZ and bumped the hindquarters of ROYAL PERICLES which itself was checked away from the heels of DYNAMIC BLITZ which shifted out to relieve the tightening to BLAZE KING. At the entrance to the Straight, FRIENDLY GAINS was steadied away from the heels of SUNNY GOLF which got its head on the side and shifted out. Throughout the race, NO MORE GREEN travelled wide and without cover. A veterinary inspection of VENI VEDI VICI after the race did not show any significant findings. The performance of VENI VEDI VICI, which finished tailed out, was considered unacceptable. Before being allowed to race again, VENI VEDI VICI will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in an official barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. When questioned, Trainer C W Chang stated that after consultation with VITAL FLYER’s owner, it had been decided to ride the horse in a forward position in a bid to offset the horse’s wide barrier. He said whilst VITAL FLYER had not finished far from the placegetters at its last two runs, the owner was somewhat disappointed that the horse had not been able to be successful. NO MORE GREEN, DYNAMIC BLITZ and TRUE INTELLIGENCE were sent for sampling. After the race, the Veterinary Officer reported that WATCH WHAT HAPPENS had lost its right front plate.
