Racing Incident Report
JOSHUA TREE was withdrawn on raceday morning by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (lame right fore). At the start, WINCHESTER shifted out and away from MIGHTY HIGH, resulting in KING DANCER and REDWOOD being hampered. Shortly after the start, MASTERY was steadied away from the heels of MIGHTY HIGH which shifted out abruptly at the start. Near the 2000 Metres, MR MEDICI was steadied when crowded for room between BOARD MEETING and AMERICAIN which shifted out. INDIAN DAYS, which was following, was hampered in consequence. D Beadman (VIVA PATACA) pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding [Rule 100(1)] in that approaching the winning post on the first occasion he permitted his mount to shift in when not clear of WINCHESTER, resulting in that horse being checked and striking the heels of VIVA PATACA and blundering. In this incident, KING DANCER, which was racing to the inside of WINCHESTER, was crowded for room and became unbalanced. BOARD MEETING, which was following, was checked to avoid the heels of WINCHESTER and INDIAN DAYS and MR MEDICI, which were following BOARD MEETING, were hampered in consequence. D Beadman was suspended from riding in races for a period to expire on Monday, 20 December 2010 on which day he may resume race riding (2 Hong Kong racedays). The commencement of the suspension was to take immediate effect. In addition, D Beadman was fined $80,000 in lieu of a suspension for a period incorporating two further racedays. After this, WINCHESTER was left racing wide and without cover. Passing the 1100 Metres, INDIAN DAYS was checked away from the heels of KING DANCER. Near the 600 Metres, JAGUAR MAIL was steadied away from the heels of KING DANCER (D Whyte) which shifted in when not quite clear. D Whyte was advised to exercise more care in future. Near the 250 Metres, INDIAN DAYS was crowded for room between WINCHESTER which was taken out by CRYSTAL CAPELLA and JAKKALBERRY which shifted in. Passing the 200 Metres, JAGUAR MAIL was shifted to the inside of MIGHTY HIGH to continue improving. When questioned regarding the disappointing performance of CRYSTAL CAPELLA, R Moore stated that the horse hung in throughout the race and, in his opinion, did not appreciate today’s track conditions. A veterinary inspection of CRYSTAL CAPELLA after the race did not show any significant findings. A veterinary inspection of BOARD MEETING, which finished tailed out, after the race revealed the horse to have some bleeding associated with a right front foot quarter crack but was not lame. After the race, AMERICAIN was reported to have a superficial wound to the left hind cannon. AMERICAIN, MASTERY and REDWOOD were sent for sampling.
<13/12/2010 Additional Veterinary Report> CRYSTAL CAPELLA, which performed poorly, was examined by the Veterinary Officer. He said at that time there were no significant findings. CRYSTAL CAPELLA was again examined by the Veterinary Officer this morning. He said at this time he noted the horse to be lame in its right front leg.
