Racing Incident Report

After being loaded, TOMODACHI became fractious. Before being allowed to race again, TOMODACHI will be required to perform satisfactorily in a stalls test. DIVIDEND CHAMPION began awkwardly and shifted out, resulting in DIVIDEND CHAMPION being steadied away from the heels of ALL VICTORY. ABLE MAGIC was slow to begin. After this, ABLE MAGIC was ridden along to obtain a more forward position and at the 1000 Metres proved very difficult to settle and shifted out abruptly when being checked away from the heels of JUST CHILL. After this, ABLE MAGIC continued to prove difficult to settle and raced wide and without cover. From a wide barrier, CHINA WIN was taken across behind runners shortly after the start. In the early stages, DIVIDEND CHAMPION raced greenly, got its head on the side and shifted out towards the heels of CHATEAU DE CAIX passing the 1000 Metres. Near the 700 Metres, FULL HOUSE shifted out when being steadied away from the heels of CHATEAU DE CAIX and in doing so bumped OASIS DAVIS. Passing the 700 Metres, DIVIDEND CHAMPION became unbalanced when reluctant to improve to the inside of CHATEAU DE CAIX. CHINA WIN had difficulty obtaining clear running in the early part of the Straight. Close to the finishing line, SOLAR BOY shifted out and bumped TOMODACHI which became unbalanced. Throughout the race, DISPATCHER travelled wide and without cover. When questioned regarding the disappointing performance of OASIS DAVIS, Trainer T W Leung was not able to offer any excuse as it had trained on well since its most recent success. He said OASIS DAVIS had pleased him in its track work since its last run and he considered it to be a good chance today. He stated however that the only excuse he could find for the horse’s run today was that it may not have backed up since its most recent success on 26 January 2011. A veterinary inspection of OASIS DAVIS after the race did not show any significant findings. After the race, an endoscopic examination was conducted on DIVIDEND CHAMPION at the request of Trainer P O’Sullivan. The Veterinary Officer said this examination showed a substantial amount of mucopus in the horse's trachea. DISPATCHER, SUPREME KNIGHT and TOMODACHI were sent for sampling.
