Racing Incident Report
PLANET, which was very fractious in the barriers, began awkwardly. CLASSA and NOBLE FLIER were slow to begin. LIGHTNING MOUNT shifted out at the start and bumped DAILY DOUBLE. Near the 1300 Metres, MEDIC FORTUNE lay in and away from BULB TREASURE, resulting in DAILY DOUBLE racing in restricted room. Also near the 1300 Metres, COVER BOY got its head on the side, shifted out and became unbalanced after making contact with NOBLE FLIER. Near the 1100 Metres, COVER BOY again got its head on the side and shifted out towards the hindquarters of PLANET. Near the 500 Metres, PLANET was awkwardly placed close to the heels of MEDIC FORTUNE. Approaching the 400 Metres, COVER BOY was checked after shifting out across the heels of PLANET. Shortly after entering into the Straight, GOLDEN BOY got its head on the side, shifted in and bumped DAILY DOUBLE which became unbalanced. After this, GOLDEN BOY continued to hang in under pressure. Throughout the race, BULB TREASURE travelled wide and without cover. Whilst the Stewards were satisfied that the riding of Apprentice C Y Ho (MEDIC FORTUNE), 5th placegetter, over the concluding stages did not affect the horse’s finishing position, he was nonetheless reminded of his obligation to ride his mounts out at least hands and heels to the end of the race where circumstances permit. Following the race, B Prebble reported that DAILY DOUBLE did not feel comfortable in its action. After the race, the Veterinary Officer said an examination of DAILY DOUBLE did not reveal any significant findings. A veterinary inspection of SUCCESSFUL ERA and COVER BOY after the race did not show any significant findings. DAILY DOUBLE, GOLDEN BOY and SONOFTHEWEST were sent for sampling.
