Racing Incident Report

FUN AND FAST and MATSUKAZE were slow to begin. DRAGON CHOICE began awkwardly, shifted out and bumped MY TIME. DRAGON CHOICE then became unbalanced and shifted in abruptly, resulting in LINKED WIN becoming badly unbalanced when crowded for room outside MATSUKAZE. Shortly after the start, GOLDEN INSIGHT raced in restricted room between TEAM WORK and BESPOKE MASTER. When being ridden along shortly after the start to obtain a forward position, MY TIME got its head on the side and hung in. MY TIME then raced wide and without cover and near the 800 Metres was ridden along to obtain a more forward position closer to the running rail. However, MY TIME continued to race wide and without cover and in the Straight gave ground. In the Straight, GOLDEN INSIGHT got its head on the side and lay out. When questioned regarding the disappointing performance of MY MEMORY, Y T Cheng stated that after being loaded in barrier 11, MY MEMORY became very fractious and lunged at the front gates. He said after this MY MEMORY jumped satisfactorily, however, took some time to muster speed. He said he was obliged to ride MY MEMORY vigorously in the early stages to cross runners to his inside and find the fence as MY MEMORY had in the past shown its best form when able to obtain a position close to the rail. He added that approaching the 800 Metres he was able to cross TRUE VALOUR to his inside in the lead and after this MY MEMORY settled well. He said however that near the 400 Metres TRACK LIGHTNING improved its position outside of MY MEMORY which immediately came under pressure and despite being ridden along did not finish off the race. Y T Cheng stated that although MY MEMORY was disappointing, the horse’s barrier manners tonight coupled with the amount of use that he had to make of MY MEMORY in the early stages were the principal reasons for its disappointing performance. A veterinary inspection of MY MEMORY after the race revealed that the horse had a mild wound to the left muzzle and that it had blood at the right nostril. The Veterinary Officer said that an endoscopic examination of MY MEMORY confirmed that the horse had bled and accordingly MY MEMORY was deemed as being a bleeder. MY MEMORY, LUCKY TYCOON and TRACK LIGHTNING were sent for sampling.
