Racing Incident Report
As Jockey T Berry was unable to fulfil the engagement on BURGUNDY MAC due to being overweight, he was fined a sum of $5,000. As such, permission was given for C K Tong to be substituted as the rider of that horse.
Shortly after the start, KENSWORTH KID was steadied when crowded for room between THE FAST LANE and GLORY OF INDIA which shifted in.
From a wide barrier, BURGUNDY MAC was taken across behind runners shortly after the start.
Making the first turn approaching the 2000 Metres, WIN ALONG was steadied away from the heels of DRAGON PINS.
Making the turn after the 600 Metres, VICTORY MASCOT was awkwardly placed close to the heels of WIN ALONG.
When questioned, A Suborics stated that in the early part of the Straight MAGNUMOUS showed a good turn of foot and he felt that the horse was going to finish off the race strongly. He said however that over the final 150 Metres MAGNUMOUS tired and was disappointing over the concluding stages in the manner in which it weakened. A veterinary inspection of MAGNUMOUS immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
A veterinary inspection of DRAGON PINS immediately following the race revealed the horse to be lame in the right front leg. Before being allowed to race again, DRAGON PINS will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
A veterinary inspection of BURGUNDY MAC immediately following the race revealed the horse to be lame in the left front leg and both hind legs. Before being allowed to race again, BURGUNDY MAC will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
MAGNUMOUS, THE FAST LANE and VICTORY MASCOT were sent for sampling.
