Racing Incident Report
OXFORD CHARLEY and PEPPERMINT were taken across behind runners shortly after the start.
Approaching the 1500 Metres, FLYING CHAPARRAL became unbalanced after jumping a shadow on the track.
Despite being vigorously ridden along in the early stages, CHANCELLOR took a considerable distance to muster speed.
For some distance in the early stages, GOOD TREASURE proved difficult to settle and got its head up on a number of occasions.
Passing the 1300 Metres, GREEN MANNER and HECO RIDER raced tight as GREEN MANNER maintained its position one horse off the fence.
Approaching the 900 Metres, HECO RIDER was left racing wide and without cover.
Near the 300 Metres, GREEN MANNER lost its left hind plate.
Approaching the 300 Metres, HECO RIDER and GREEN MANNER raced tight as GREEN MANNER shifted to the outside of GOOD TREASURE into clear running.
After the 200 Metres, GOOD TREASURE shifted in under pressure, resulting in ONE OF A KIND being inconvenienced.
ONE OF A KIND lost its left front plate after the race.
M L Yeung pleaded guilty to a breach of Rule 100(2) in that he failed to ride CHANCELLOR, 6th placegetter, out to the end of the race to the satisfaction of the Stewards. For this breach of the Rule, M L Yeung was fined a sum of $20,000.
C Y Ho reported that after being crowded for room at the start between HOLMES LEGEND and EAGLE POWER which shifted out, FLYING IBIS, despite being ridden along for the majority of the race, did not stretch out at any stage and trailed the field throughout. He said when being eased down after the winning post, FLYING IBIS made an abnormal breathing noise. A veterinary inspection of FLYING IBIS immediately following the race did not show any significant findings, however, the horse was unable to be scoped due to being fractious. The performance of FLYING IBIS, which finished tailed out, was considered unacceptable. Before being allowed to race again, FLYING IBIS will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in an official barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
After the race, the Veterinary Officer reported that GOOD TREASURE had bled from both nostrils.
A veterinary inspection of FLYING CHAPARRAL immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
HOLMES LEGEND, KING’S PACT and EAGLE POWER were sent for sampling.
