Racing Incident Report
Just prior to the start, HELLO KIMBERLEY became fractious and as the start was effected sat back, resulting in the horse beginning awkwardly and being slow to begin.
Near the 800 Metres, KING TAI SING lost its position when racing with its head on the side and reluctant to maintain its position between CARRY THE ZEAL and SUNSHINE KID which was racing tight inside BOULD MOVER.
Making the first turn near the 700 Metres, EVERSPRING was awkwardly placed close to the heels of DEMON DEMON.
Near the 600 Metres, O’HALO broke down, resulting in HURRY HURRY UP being severely checked and CARRY THE ZEAL being checked. SUNSHINE KID and BOULD MOVER were also severely hampered and forced wide in this incident.
Near the 500 Metres, HELLO KIMBERLEY was checked when attempting to improve inside KING TAI SING which was racing tight inside DEMON DEMON which itself was racing in restricted room inside CARRY THE ZEAL which shifted in slightly after being checked when O’HALO broke down. The Stewards formed the view that this incident was attributable to the race being disrupted when O’HALO was retired out of the race and accordingly no further action was taken.
After the 200 Metres, HURRY HURRY UP was directed to the inside of the heels of SUPREME HONG KONG to obtain clear running.
After the race, Z Purton expressed concern regarding the action of KING TAI SING. A veterinary inspection of KING TAI SING immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
Also after the race, an endoscopic examination was conducted on SUNSHINE KID at the request of Trainer C W Chang. The Veterinary Surgeon said this examination showed a substantial amount of blood in the horse's trachea. Before being allowed to race again, SUNSHINE KID will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
HURRY HURRY UP, APOLLO CAVALIER and SUPREME HONG KONG were sent for sampling.
