Racing Incident Report
LUCKY STORM stood flat-footed as the start was effected and consequently lost a significant amount of ground. Before being allowed to race again, LUCKY STORM will be required to perform satisfactorily in a barrier trial.
VIRTUS STAR shifted out at the start and bumped KEEP WINNING.
From wide barriers, WONDERFUL TIGER and BREAK RECORD were shifted across behind runners in the early stages.
Passing the winning post on the first occasion, KEEP WINNING raced tight inside MONEY WINNER.
After the 1300 Metres, THE FULL BLOOM was left racing wide and without cover and after the 1000 Metres was allowed to improve its position to race outside the lead by the 600 Metres at which stage WONDERFUL TIGER was left racing wide and without cover.
Also after the 1300 Metres, WONDERFUL TIGER got its head up when proving difficult to settle and was awkwardly placed close to the heels of LITTLE ISLAND.
Making the turn after the 600 Metres, VIRTUS STAR raced tight inside MONEY WINNER which shifted in away from the heels of WONDERFUL TIGER as that horse got its head on the side and lay in towards the heels of FORTUNE WAY. After this, WONDERFUL TIGER continued to lay in and near the 450 Metres shifted in despite the efforts of its rider and bumped MONEY WINNER, resulting in both horses becoming unbalanced.
At the entrance to the Straight, BREAK RECORD and KEEP WINNING raced tight as KEEP WINNING improved to the outside of MONEY WINNER and WONDERFUL TIGER.
Passing the 300 Metres, MONEY WINNER raced tight inside WONDERFUL TIGER. MONEY WINNER was then shifted to the inside of FORTUNE WAY near the 250 Metres.
Passing the 200 Metres, VIRTUS STAR lay in away from THE FULL BLOOM which also lay in under pressure. This resulted in VIRTUS STAR being awkwardly placed close to the heels of ASSOCIATION FANS after being disappointed for running between that horse and THE FULL BLOOM.
Close to the finishing line, MONEY WINNER was steadied away from the heels of FORTUNE WAY which was taken in by WONDERFUL TIGER (T Piccone) which lay in under pressure. Whilst the Stewards acknowledged that WONDERFUL TIGER again lay in tonight as it had done at its previous starts, nonetheless T Piccone was advised to exercise more care in similar circumstances. As a result of WONDERFUL TIGER laying in, T Piccone stopped riding and straightened his mount just prior to the finishing line.
After the race, an endoscopic examination was conducted on FORTUNE WAY at the request of Trainer T P Yung. The Veterinary Surgeon said this examination showed a substantial amount of blood in the horse's trachea. Before being allowed to race again, FORTUNE WAY will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
A veterinary inspection of MONEY WINNER immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
BLOOMING SPIRIT and ASSOCIATION FANS were sent for sampling.
