Racing Incident Report
On arrival at the Start, it was noted that BIG PARTY had minor lacerations to its left hind fetlock. A veterinary examination of BIG PARTY found that horse to be suitable to race.
JOLLY BANNER and COMPUTER PATCH made contact on jumping.
YEE CHEONG BABY and VICTORIAM bumped at the start. YEE CHEONG BABY, VICTORIAM and WISHFUL THINKER were then badly crowded for room between BIG PARTY which shifted out before being directed back in to relieve the tightening and GOLD CHEST which began awkwardly and shifted in. This resulted in YEE CHEONG BABY, VICTORIAM and WISHFUL THINKER all becoming badly unbalanced and losing ground. As the Stewards were satisfied that there was no rider carelessness involved in this incident, no further action was taken.
BIG PARTY lost its left front plate in the early stages.
Near the 350 Metres, YEE CHEONG BABY was brushed by VICTORIAM which was taken in by GOLD CHEST which shifted in after racing tight inside JOLLY BANNER which shifted in.
When questioned, C Y Ho stated that VICTORIAM initially travelled satisfactorily in the early stages after being badly crowded at the start. He said he had to commence riding VICTORIAM along after the 500 Metres and the horse immediately came under pressure and did not quicken for him. He said VICTORIAM gave ground noticeably over the latter stages and was not comfortable in its action after the race. He added that in particular the horse did not feel right behind. He added VICTORIAM’s performance today could be attributed to the interference that the horse suffered at the start of the race. A veterinary inspection of VICTORIAM immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. Before being allowed to race again, VICTORIAM will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
After the race, an endoscopic examination was conducted on YEE CHEONG BABY at the request of Trainer A T Millard. The Veterinary Surgeon said this examination showed a substantial amount of blood in the horse’s trachea. Before being allowed to race again, YEE CHEONG BABY will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
COMPUTER PATCH and JOLLY BANNER were sent for sampling.
