Racing Incident Report
CLASSIC UNICORN began only fairly and then shifted out and bumped the hindquarters of KURPANY. After this, CLASSIC UNICORN got its head on the side and lay in when being ridden along in an attempt to obtain a more forward position. Then approaching the 950 Metres, CLASSIC UNICORN was awkwardly placed close to the heels of SIGHT SUCCESS when racing tight inside KURPANY. After the race, K C Leung (CLASSIC UNICORN) stated that the horse was always off the bridle in the race and got its head up on a number of occasions racing in blinkers for the first time. He said CLASSIC UNICORN was under heavy pressure in the middle stages in an endeavour to maintain its position and then in the Straight did not finish off the race. A veterinary inspection of CLASSIC UNICORN immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
VALIANT DREAM began awkwardly, shifted out and inconvenienced HONG KONG WIN.
LOVING A BOOM was steadied in the early stages to obtain cover.
Passing the 800 Metres, HONG KONG WIN was shifted out away from the heels of VALIANT DREAM which was steadied to obtain cover behind KURPANY.
After the race, an endoscopic examination was conducted on HANDSOME BO BO at the request of Trainer C S Shum. The Veterinary Surgeon said this examination showed a substantial amount of blood in the horse’s trachea. Before being allowed to race again, HANDSOME BO BO will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
SIGHT SUCCESS and HANDSOME BO BO were sent for sampling.
