Racing Incident Report
RISE BRETHREN began only fairly.
CELESTIAL POWER was slow to begin.
BERLIN TANGO was steadied in the early stages to obtain cover.
Approaching the 500 Metres, ENJOYING got its head on the side and lay out and was awkwardly placed inside LOOKING GREAT.
FLYING QUEST was held up for clear running in the early part of the Straight and approaching the 200 Metres was shifted in away from the heels of ENJOYING to obtain clear running inside that horse.
SIGHT SPIRIT was badly held up for clear running from on straightening until near the 300 Metres at which time SIGHT SPIRIT commenced to shift to the outside of SUPERBELLA in an attempt to improve into tight running between that horse and RISE BRETHREN, resulting in BERLIN TANGO being disappointed for running between SIGHT SPIRIT and RISE BRETHREN. As SIGHT SPIRIT was commencing to shift to the outside of SUPERBELLA, SUPERBELLA shifted out under pressure which resulted in SIGHT SPIRIT being very awkwardly placed behind SUPERBELLA and shifting out away from that horse’s heels, causing SIGHT SPIRIT to bump RISE BRETHREN which became unbalanced on a number of occasions. SIGHT SPIRIT then continued to be held up for clear running until approaching the 150 Metres. Because of these circumstances, SIGHT SPIRIT was not able to be properly tested.
RUNNING GLORY lost its left hind plate passing the 300 Metres.
Throughout the race, SUPERBELLA travelled wide and without cover.
After the race, an endoscopic examination was conducted on RISE BRETHREN at the request of Trainer C S Shum. The Veterinary Surgeon said this examination showed a substantial amount of mucus in the horse’s trachea.
RUNNING GLORY and RISE BRETHREN were sent for sampling.
