Racing Incident Report
CHEERFUL DAYS was withdrawn on 11.7.23 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (lame left fore) and was replaced by first Standby Declared Starter SON PAK FU (C L Chau). A PAL was also withdrawn on 11.7.23 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (right front tendon injury) and was replaced by second Standby Declared Starter NIMBLE NIMBUS (B Avdulla). Before being allowed to race again, CHEERFUL DAYS and A PAL will both be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
On arrival at the Start, M L Yeung expressed concern regarding the action of GRATEFUL HEART. GRATEFUL HEART was examined by the Veterinary Officer and passed suitable to race. After the race, M L Yeung again expressed concern about the horse’s action during the running of the event. A veterinary inspection of GRATEFUL HERAT immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. Before being allowed to race again, GRATEFUL HEART will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
SAVAQUIN and NIMBLE NIMBUS bumped on jumping.
PACKING AWARD shifted out at the start and bumped GRATEFUL HEART.
From wide barriers, HANDSOME TWELVE and GALAXY WITNESS were shifted across behind runners in the early stages.
From the outside barriers, ATULLIBIGEAL and PRIME MINISTER were also shifted across behind runners in the early stages.
SON PAK FU raced wide and without cover until near the 700 Metres.
BUTTERFIELD was left racing wide and without cover from the 700 Metres.
HANDSOME TWELVE lay in under pressure in the Home Straight.
C L Chau pleaded guilty to a breach of Rule 100(2) in that he failed to ride SON PAK FU, 6th placegetter, out to the end of the race to the satisfaction of the Stewards. For this breach of the Rule, Jockey Chau was fined the sum of $25,000.
A veterinary inspection of SAVAQUIN, HANDSOME TWELVE and PRIME MINISTER immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
A veterinary inspection of PACKING AWARD immediately following the race found that horse to have bled from both nostrils.
TELECOM FIGHTERS and GALAXY WITNESS were sent for sampling.
