2 1 JUMBO LEGEND (G266) For a short distance near the 100 Metres was held up behind TELECOM SPEED when being shifted to that runner’s outside to obtain clear running. Sent for sampling post-race.
3 4 BEAUTY INFINITY (H377) Crowded shortly after the start. Approaching the 1000 Metres, when racing keenly, was steadied when briefly crowded by FLAMING EAGLE (A Badel) which shifted in before being corrected by its rider. A Badel was advised to exercise more care. Near the 100 Metres was inconvenienced when taken wider. Raced wide and without cover for the majority of the event.
4 8 TALENTS SUPREMO (H133) No report.
5 10 DIAMOND FLARE (H224) No report.
6 3 TELECOM SPEED (G259) No report.
7 12 FLAMING EAGLE (G108) Shortly after the start shifted out and away from DIAMOND FLARE and became unbalanced. Near the 100 Metres was bumped and taken wider by JUMBO LEGEND which shifted out to improve. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race which included an endoscopic examination showed a substantial amount of blood in the horse’s trachea. Before being allowed to race again, FLAMING EAGLE will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
8 2 EXUBERANT (E282) After the race, J McDonald stated that from a wide barrier he was instructed to go back in the early stages and to make his run to the outside of the field. He added after settling back in the early and middle stages, he commenced to make a run on the Home Turn in accordance with his instructions, but EXUBERANT did not finish the race off strongly. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
9 7 KING OBERON (H407) Bumped on jumping. Raced keenly in the middle stages.
10 11 THE GOOD DEAL (G025) From a wide barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages. After the race, L Ferraris explained that from a wide barrier he was instructed by Trainer D J Whyte to ride THE GOOD DEAL in a conservative manner in the early stages to avoid racing wide.
11 5 FAST AS ROCKET (H375) Slow to begin and then was crowded shortly after the start. Near the 600 Metres bumped the running rail and became unbalanced.
12 6 HAPPY FEELING (H443) Bumped on jumping. From the 800 Metres commenced to race keenly and got its head up for some distance thereafter.
