1 6 PACKING HURRICANE (H137) Sent for sampling post-race. <19/2/2024 Additional Veterinary Reports>The Veterinary Surgeon reported that PACKING HURRICANE was found to be lame in its left front leg on the morning after racing. Before being allowed to race again, PACKING HURRICANE will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
2 7 SIMPLY MAVERICK (H346) Sent for sampling post-race.
3 1 THE BEST PEACH (H139) No report.
4 9 ENIGMA (J077) When questioned Apprentice Y L Chung stated that he was instructed to hold a forward position. He said when his mount jumped awkwardly and did not show sufficient pace to cross runners to his inside he elected to take cover behind LOOKING GREAT. He said in the middle stages ENIGMA raced keenly, shifted out at the 1200 Metres and bumped SIMPLE HEDGE but finished the race off well. Trainer A S Cruz confirmed the instructions were to be forward and expressed satisfaction with the decision Apprentice Chung made in the early stages to obtain a position behind LOOKING GREAT.
5 11 GALLANT HERO (E480) From a wide barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.
6 4 SIMPLE HEDGE (H237) Bumped shortly after the start. Bumped near the 1200 Metres. After the race, Z Purton stated that his mount was obliged to race wide and without cover until near the 700 Metres and this was the only explanation he could offer for SIMPLE HEDGE not finishing the race off strongly in the Home Straight. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. Sent for sampling post-race.
7 8 DEVILDOM (H445) No report.
8 2 MOMENTS IN TIME (H474) Bumped on the hindquarters shortly after the start.
9 5 LOOKING GREAT (E053) No report.
10 10 HAKKA RADIANCE (J105) Bumped shortly after the start. After the race, B Thompson reported that from a wide barrier he was instructed that if his mount commenced well, to endeavour to take a more forward position than it had previously raced in as it had been slow to begin in its previous race starts.
11 3 WOODFIRE BRO (G115) When questioned, K C Leung stated that on jumping his mount blundered badly and as a result he and WOODFIRE BRO became badly unbalanced and lost ground. He said after this incident WOODFIRE BRO did not travel well throughout the event and when he was concerned that there may be something amiss with his mount in the Home Straight, he did not ride it out to the finish when not in a competitive position. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race revealed that the horse was displaying an irregular heart rhythm. Before being allowed to race again, WOODFIRE BRO will be required to perform satisfactorily in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination which must include additional diagnostic assessments.
