Racing Incident Report

Pla. Horse No. Horse Incident
2 YEE CHEONG GLORY (K074) Between the 400 Metres and the 300 Metres was held up for clear running. Sent for sampling post-race.
1 MASTER LUCKY (K582) Jumped only fairly and then was bumped by INCREDIBLE MOMENT. Sent for sampling post-race.
7 CALL ME SUCCESS (K462) In the middle stages raced keenly.
12 INCREDIBLE MOMENT (K275) On jumping shifted out and made contact with MASTER LUCKY.
5 HEROIC VANGUARD (L180) Shifted in at the start and was bumped. Between the 450 Metres and the 200 Metres was held up for clear running. When questioned regarding his riding in the Home Straight A Badel stated that after following MASTER LUCKY into the Home Straight he shifted to that runner’s outside with a view to obtaining clear running between BIGTIME GENERATION and CALL ME SUCCESS. He said when he was of the opinion there was not sufficient room to improve between BIGTIME GENERATION and CALL ME SUCCESS he then shifted out near the 300 Metres to the outside of CALL ME SUCCESS to attempt to obtain clear running but was unable to do so when YEE CHEONG GLORY maintained its position to his outside. He said as a consequence his mount was held up for clear running until near the 200 Metres.
10 GOR GOR (K104) Jumped only fairly. In the early stages raced keenly. After obtaining a position with cover behind CALL ME SUCCESS commenced to race keenly and was steadied to avoid CALL ME SUCCESS near the 650 Metres.
6 LIVE WIRE (L142) For some distance near the 400 Metres was held up for clear running behind INCREDIBLE MOMENT. Z Purton stated that his mount was reluctant to race in amongst other horses, particularly when endeavouring to improve into the Home Straight and to the outside of INCREDIBLE MOMENT. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
11 STORMY KNIGHT (L062) Bumped on jumping. When questioned B Avdulla stated that he was given no specific instructions where to settle but not to make use of the horse in the early stages as it has had a tendency to race keenly which had resulted in the sheepskin cheek pieces being removed from the horse for today’s race. He said this resulted in STORMY KNIGHT settling back in the field in the early stages, particularly with the early sectionals being run inside of standard time. He added that throughout the middle stages he was obliged to place some pressure on his mount to hold the position to the inside of POET’S REIGN and when the pace steadied after the 600 Metres he was able to improve his position to be racing behind the winner YEE CHEONG GLORY. He added in the early stages of the Home Straight he was reluctant to place full pressure on his mount as he had observed LIVE WIRE, which was racing in advance of him, having difficulty obtaining clear running and he was concerned if he placed his mount under pressure it would not have clear room to improve into. He said from the 300 Metres when he was satisfied there was an opportunity to improve he then placed STORMY KNIGHT under full pressure but it took some time to respond and from the 100 Metres commenced to make good ground before being held up over the concluding stages. Trainer D A Hayes confirmed the instructions and stated that he issued those instructions as the horse does have a tendency to race keenly in its races.
3 BIGTIME GENERATION (K496) No report.
8 ILLUMINOUS (J170) Jumped only fairly. Over the final 150 Metres was held up for clear running behind HEROIC VANGUARD.
4 POET'S REIGN (L021) Became fractious in the saddling stalls and made contact with a rail. Was examined by the Veterinary Officer at the Start and passed suitable to race. J Orman stated that his mount, which was having its second race start, raced greenly and throughout the early and middle stages he was obliged to make use of the horse to maintain its position. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
9 SWEET BRIAR (H044) M L Yeung reported that the instructions were to hold an on-pace position. He said SWEET BRIAR did not show sufficient pace in the early stages to comply with the instructions.
