Racing Incident Report
When the gates opened, CLEMENT FORTUNE bounded in the air, became unbalanced, shifted out and almost unseated E Saint-Martin. CLEMENT FORTUNE hung out in the middle stages. Before being permitted to race again, CLEMENT FORTUNE will have to perform satisfactorily in an official barrier trial around a bend. CALL ME HANDSOME jumped very awkwardly. CHARMING SUCCESS left the gates badly and shifted out. Apprentice K H Yu (MERRY MERRY), in the presence of his allocated Trainer, Mr P F Yiu, pleaded guilty to a charge of improper riding in that on the first turn he shifted his mount in when not clear of ACE OF PACE. As a consequence of this, that horse was taken in from its rightful running, severely checked and caused JIMMY THE GREEK which was racing on its inside to be checked. CHINESESPORT GLORY was checked rather severely to avoid the heels of JIMMY THE GREEK. SUPER TEAM, WOODSIDE PARK, CALL ME HANDSOME and WINNING HURRAH which were following were hampered in consequence. Apprentice K H Yu was suspended from riding in races for a period to commence on Thursday, 28 September 2000 and to expire on Sunday, 29 October 2000 on which day he may resume race riding. Near the 700 Metres, MIDAS KING was steadied and shifted out abruptly to avoid the heels of WINNING HURRAH. After this incident, MIDAS KING continued on forward. Near the 500 Metres, ACE OF PACE got its head up when awkward on the heels of MERRY MERRY. In the early part of the Straight, ACE OF PACE shifted from behind MERRY MERRY. This caused some inconvenience to JIMMY THE GREEK. SUPER TEAM and ACE OF PACE were sent for clinical veterinary examination and routine testing. After the race, it was reported that MERRY MERRY had lost its near side front plate. It was also reported that CLEVER CITATION had lost its near side hind plate during the race. Following the race, the Veterinary Surgeon reported that JIMMY THE GREEK had sustained lacerations to its off side hind heel and also to the lower part of its near side hind leg.
