Racing Incident Report

The start was delayed slightly as HIGH HILL FOREST was difficult to load. HIGH HILL FOREST then left the gates awkwardly, shifted out and became unbalanced when close to the hindquarters of GOOD NEWS. Before racing again, HIGH HILL FOREST will be required to perform satisfactorily in a stalls test. MARSHALL SPIRIT left the gates awkwardly. PERFECT FUN left the gates awkwardly, threw its head about, shifted in slightly and made contact with SPECIFIC SORCEROR. Rounding the Home Turn, TOYMARK had a tendency to lay out. For a short distance about the 300 Metres, GOOD NEWS was held up for a run initially behind PRISTINE and shortly afterwards for a short while behind PERFECT FUN. When weighing in after the race, R Fradd (GOOD NEWS) returned to scale at 130 lbs, 1 lb under his declared weight. The Clerk of the Scales exercised the powers he has under Rule 113(3) and allowed R Fradd 1 lb which meant he was then able to be weighed in at his correct weight. Weighed-in was then semaphored. The explanations tendered by R Fradd regarding his being underweight were accepted, but he was reminded of the serious consequences that could flow if he had been more than 1 lb underweight on returning to scale. PRISTINE was sent for clinical veterinary examination and routine testing.
