Racing Incident Report

When the gates opened, SALLIAN EXPRESS bounded in the air, as a consequence lost considerable ground. Near the 200 Metres, CHARITY FIRST, which was improving from a rearward position, ran up onto the heels of CYBER WISDOM which was giving ground, for some distance was awkwardly placed close to that horse and inside WINNING LUCK. About 100 Metres out, CHARITY FIRST was steadied, shifted to the outside of WINNING LUCK to find clear running and go forward. In the Straight, CLASSIC DANCER had a tendency to lay out. When questioned, T Culhane (CYBER WISDOM) explained he had been instructed to allow the horse to travel in the race where it was comfortable, but having said that he pointed out he was aware CYBER WISDOM is a horse with a difficult mouth and on the track recently it had worked much harder than planned. He said CYBER WISDOM left the gates well, running to the first turn he did think for a short distance he was going to be able to settle the horse, but then it continued to over-race and in all the circumstances he elected not to fight against it but to allow the horse to run along. He acknowledged in hindsight he went much too quickly on CYBER WISDOM, but was emphatic because of the manner in which the horse was travelling there was little or nothing he could do about it. He did go on to say it may be in future CYBER WISDOM will be attempted to be ridden with cover. In all the circumstances, the explanations tendered by T Culhane were accepted. TOP FIT was sent for clinical veterinary examination and routine testing.
