Racing Incident Report

On jumping, SUGAR AND SPICE and BOLD VICTORY bumped. APPLIED SUPREME began very awkwardly with its head up, because of this lost considerable ground. HEART'S DESIRE, which was not standing well, missed the start. Near the winning post the first time, SUGAR AND SPICE became unbalanced and lost its position when crowded between WINNING DELIGHTS and BOLD VICTORY which momentarily shifted in. After this incident, SUGAR AND SPICE was obliged to race wide and was not able to find cover. About the 600 Metres, WINNING DELIGHTS was momentarily crowded by BOLD VICTORY which got its head on the side and shifted in. Also about this stage of the race, PROFIT TREASURE brushed the running rail when tight inside ME AND YOU. About the 400 Metres, MY FAVOURITE, which had a difficult run, was steadied when crowded for room between APPLIED SUPREME and FLOWERS PRIDE which shifted out slightly. In the run to the winning post, DANCING SURPASS had a tendency to lay in. S King (SUGAR AND SPICE) said the horse had run well last start at long odds. He said it had never been to the Happy Valley Race Course. From a relatively favourable draw it was hoped to give SUPER AND SPICE a nice run and with a short straight the horse might perform creditably. He said however the way the race turned out SUGAR AND SPICE had a very difficult run and over the concluding stages weakened badly. SUGAR AND SPICE was sent for clinical veterinary examination and routine testing. After the race, it was noted that MY FAVOURITE had sustained an abrasion inside its off side hind pastern. The Veterinary Surgeon also said FLOWERS PRIDE had sustained an abrasion to the outside of its near side hind pastern.
