Racing Incident Report
GREENMORE was withdrawn on 17.6.03 on veterinary grounds (lame both fore) and was replaced by Standby Declared Starter GOOD RECORD (R Fradd). SONGS OF PRAISE was also withdrawn on 17.6.03 on veterinary grounds (left fore fetlock arthritis) and was replaced by Standby Declared Starter WINNING BOY (Y T Cheng). Before being allowed to race again, GREENMORE and SONGS OF PRAISE will both be required to pass an official veterinary examination. SERIOUS PLAY was slow to begin. MY FAVOURITE began awkwardly, shifted out and bumped SHANGHAI KING which was a little slow to begin. UNIVERSAL CHARGER was slow to begin. Passing the winning post on the first occasion, SALENTINO and GOOD RECORD were momentarily crowded for room inside ARMONDO which shifted in. Approaching the 200 Metres, MY FAVOURITE was disappointed for running between LUCKY TWINS and GOOD RECORD which shifted in. For some distance after this, MY FAVOURITE was held up and then shifted out to find clear running. For some distance after the 200 Metres, KONRAD THE GREAT was shifted out to obtain clear running and in doing so SUN SHINE RIVER was steadied near the 100 Metres. At the 100 Metres, SERIOUS PLAY and SHANGHAI KING bumped as SERIOUS PLAY obtained a tight run between that horse and SUNBELL. Shortly after this, SUNBELL shifted in away from SERIOUS PLAY, resulting in SALENTINO which was awkwardly placed inside the heels of that horse having to be checked. SUNBELL then continued to shift in, resulting in ARMONDO being taken in onto GOOD RECORD which was checked. Because of this, ARMONDO was not ridden out in its usual manner to the finish. WINNING BOY was sent for a clinical veterinary examination. A veterinary examination of WINNING BOY after the race did not show any significant findings. SUNBELL, SERIOUS PLAY and SHANGHAI KING were sent for sampling.
Additional Veterinary Reports (released on 19 June 2003) :
After the race, WINNING BOY was examined by the Veterinary Officer. He said at that time there were no significant findings. WINNING BOY was again examined by the Senior Veterinary Officer at the stables of Trainer A T Millard this morning and was noted to have "jarred up" in both fore fetlocks. Before being allowed to race again, WINNING BOY will be required to pass an official veterinary examination.
