Racing Incident Report
On jumping, THE DUKE, which was to be ridden in a rearward position today, got its head up, then proved difficult to settle and in the Straight was inclined to lay in. In the Straight, DR MORE hung in. After the 50 Metres, VISORHILL and GEM OF INDIA bumped. Over the concluding stages, DR MORE was steadied from between LIBERAL'S CHOICE and THE DUKE. Because of this, DR MORE was not ridden out to the line. D Dunn (CLEMENT SUPREME) said he had been instructed to ride the horse in 5th or 6th position if possible. He said CLEMENT SUPREME began nicely, he allowed it to stride forward to be in front of midfield and after the 1400 Metres was racing inside the heels of VISORHILL which had its head on the side and was shifting in when awkwardly placed inside the heels of LIBERAL'S CHOICE. He said at that stage he did consider riding his mount along to hold his position inside VISORHILL, however, bearing in mind the instructions he had been issued, he elected to allow VISORHILL to shift to the fence in front of him. He said when VISORHILL did shift to the fence, he was awkward on the heels of that horse for a short distance. He said he remained racing behind VISORHILL until after the 600 Metres and when that horse shifted away from the rail, he then improved his position and was racing to the inside of VISORHILL on straightening. He said in the early part of the Straight he was able to keep pushing at CLEMENT SUPREME, however, he did not have clear running behind GOLCONDA and inside LIBERAL'S CHOICE. The explanation submitted by D Dunn was accepted. ROOSEVELT was sent for a clinical veterinary examination. After the race, ROOSEVELT was examined by the Veterinary Officer who said there were no significant findings. LIBERAL'S CHOICE, GEM OF INDIA and VISORHILL were sent for sampling.
