Racing Incident Report

On jumping, FAIRWAY FINDER knuckled over. As the gates opened, HEALTHY HEART reared, shifted in and bumped CHEERFUL BOY. UNIVERSAL PEGASUS bounded in the air at the start, then a short distance after the start was bumped by CHEERFUL BOY. DANEPRINT, which was a little slow to begin, shifted out shortly after the start and bumped the hindquarters of NOBLE VICTORY. Approaching the 800 Metres, UNIVERSAL PEGASUS, which was racing keenly, was steadied away from the heels of BACK SEAT DRIVER. Making the turn at the 600 Metre mark, NEWSWIRE was checked when crowded for room by NOBLE VICTORY which while hanging in shifted in away from UNIVERSAL PEGASUS. For a short distance after this, NEWSWIRE was again checked when NOBLE VICTORY continued to hang in away from UNIVERSAL PEGASUS. Also making the turn at the 600 Metres, SAVINGS ACCOUNT got its head up and lay out. Making the Home Turn, NEWSWIRE was again crowded for room inside CHEERFUL BOY which shifted in slightly. SAVINGS ACCOUNT, which was following, was hampered in consequence. Passing the 300 Metres, HEALTHY HEART, which had been held up for a run behind UNIVERSAL PEGASUS, was steadied and shifted in when disappointed for running between AMITY and UNIVERSAL PEGASUS which was taken out by NOBLE VICTORY which got its head on the side and shifted out under pressure. Near the 250 Metres, UNIVERSAL PEGASUS was hit across the head by the whip of O Doleuze (NOBLE VICTORY). Near the 100 Metres, CHEERFUL BOY was steadied off the heels of BACK SEAT DRIVER and shifted in to continue going forward. Close to the line, DANEPRINT, which was closing the race off, was shifted to the outside of the heels of BACK SEAT DRIVER. AMITY, which had drawn the outside barrier, raced wide and without cover throughout and in the Straight gave ground. When questioned, S Dye (THE FACULTY) said the horse did not show enough pace to clear runners on his inside in the early stages and as a result he was obliged to race wide throughout. He added that he now believes THE FACULTY is looking for a distance longer than the 1000 Metres of tonight's race. THE FACULTY and DANEPRINT were sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of THE FACULTY and DANEPRINT after the race did not show any significant findings. PEPPERONI, NOBLE VICTORY and FAIRWAY FINDER were sent for sampling.
