Racing Incident Report

CHOICE AND CHANCE, which was standing badly in the gates, began very awkwardly and as a consequence lost a considerable amount of ground. GOLDEN WIN was slow to begin. COTTON BALL was slow to begin, shifted in and bumped WE'RE BUDDIES which became unbalanced. WE'RE BUDDIES in turn shifted in and brushed HORACE'S HORSE. Shortly after the start, HORACE'S HORSE shifted in and bumped CHAMP DE UNION which in turn shifted in and made contact with WYNDAM PLENTY. GOLDEN WIN raced wide and without cover for the majority of the race and making the turn at the 600 Metres was bumped by GRASS HOPPER which was taken out slightly by WYNDAM PLENTY. Making the Home Turn, WE'RE BUDDIES and COTTON BALL made contact. A short distance later, WE'RE BUDDIES shifted in and bumped the running rail. Near the 250 Metres, SUGAR AND SWEET shifted in and bumped EASY KING. W M Lai (WYNDAM PLENTY) was severely reprimanded for permitting his mount to shift in approaching the 200 Metres, resulting in CHAMP DE UNION having to be checked. In assessing the incident, the Stewards took into consideration that after shifting in and crowding CHAMP DE UNION, W M Lai did direct his mount out and relieve the crowding to CHAMP DE UNION. Passing the 100 Metres, HORACE'S HORSE was shifted in away from the heels of GRASS HOPPER. Over the concluding stages, CHAMP DE UNION raced in restricted room inside WYNDAM PLENTY. In the Straight, CHOICE AND CHANCE was inclined to lay in under pressure. CHAMP DE UNION was sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of CHAMP DE UNION after the race did not show any significant findings. GRASS HOPPER and HORACE'S HORSE were sent for sampling. After the race, the Veterinary Officer reported EASY KING had lost its left front plate.
