Racing Incident Report
While in the holding stables, CLASSIC ENERGY had its right hind foot replated. CLASSIC ENERGY was examined by the Veterinary Officer who said in his opinion it was suitable to race. Passing the winning post on the first occasion, LUCKY TYCOON, which was being taken back to a position with cover, became unbalanced when being steadied away from the heels of DASHING CHAMPION (Apprentice T H So) which shifted in when not properly clear. Apprentice So was reprimanded and told to exercise greater care. In the early stages, KAISER’S CHOIX travelled wide and without cover and after entering the Back Straight was allowed to stride forward. Approaching the 1200 Metres, LUCKY TYCOON got its head up when being steadied away from the heels of HARRY HARRY. Near the 1100 Metres, CLASSIC ENERGY, which was proving difficult to settle, became unbalanced when awkwardly placed inside the hindquarters of EVERGREEN. Near the 800 Metres, HIGH INTELLIGENT, which had been proving difficult to settle, shifted out from behind HARRY HARRY. As a consequence, DASHING CHAMPION was carried wider. In the Straight, CLASSIC ENERGY hung in and over about the final 200 Metres was held up and unable to obtain clear running. Because of this, CLASSIC ENERGY was not tested. After the 100 Metres, BATURO turned its head to the left and attempted to savage KINGSTON WINNER. Mr Y S Tsui, trainer of BATURO, was told a warning would be recorded against BATURO and should the horse perform similarly in the future, further action may be taken. In the Straight, BOBO WIN hung in and proved difficult to shift wider on the track into clear running. DASHING CHAMPION was sent for an official veterinary inspection. After the race, DASHING CHAMPION was examined by the Veterinary Officer. He said an endoscopic examination showed a substantial amount of mucopus in the horse's trachea. STRIKING MASCOT and BOBO WIN were sent for sampling.
