Racing Incident Report

INTERCHINA STAR was slow to begin, then throughout the race travelled wide and without cover. ROMA PEGASUS began awkwardly. Passing the 1200 Metres, INTERCHINA STAR was steadied away from the heels of SYLLABUS which shifted out when awkwardly placed close to the heels of FULL OF JOY. Making the turn near the 550 Metres, GALLANT LION raced tight inside NOBLE CONQUEROR which got its head on the side and lay in when close to the heels of EXCELLENT BOY. Shortly after entering the Straight, GREAT ACHIEVEMENT was steadied and shifted in when awkwardly placed close to the heels of FULL OF JOY. In the early part of the Straight, ROMA PEGASUS got its head on the side and hung in. Near the 150 Metres, ROMA PEGASUS, which was improving its position, was checked away from the heels of SYLLABUS which, when giving ground, shifted in slightly. ROMA PEGASUS was then badly held up for clear running for the remainder of the event. A veterinary inspection of BEST FRIEND after the race including an endoscopic examination showed a substantial amount of mucopus in the horse’s trachea. NOBLE CONQUEROR and EXCELLENT BOY were sent for sampling.
