Racing Incident Report

KEEN WONGCHOY was withdrawn on 14.9.13 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (pyrexia). Before being allowed to race again, KEEN WONGCHOY will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
On leaving the Parade Ring, DINING WORLD became fractious and slipped over. In this incident, DINING WORLD lost its right hind plate. The Veterinary Officer reported that an initial inspection of DINING WORLD revealed the horse to have sustained minor abrasions to its right fore cannon and tendon, however, trotted up sound. He said for this reason he approved for the horse to be replated. The Veterinary Officer said that after being replated, the horse was again examined and was found to be mildly lame on the right fore leg and to have developed swelling over the right front tendon. The Veterinary Officer reported that in the circumstances he did not believe that DINING WORLD was suitable to race. Acting on this advice, the Stewards ordered the withdrawal of DINING WORLD. Before being allowed to race again, DINING WORLD will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
On arrival at the barriers, Jockey C O’Donoghue reported that SHAHJEE had coughed on two occasions on the way to the Start. A veterinary inspection of SHAHJEE did not reveal any significant findings and after the necessary consultations SHAHJEE was passed suitable to race. The Veterinary Officer reported that as SHAHJEE was fractious, an endoscopic examination was unable to be performed after the race.
CHOICE TREASURE and SICHUAN VIGOUR were crowded for room on jumping between ROCKET LET WIN and SHAHJEE which shifted out. Shortly after this, CHOICE TREASURE, SICHUAN VIGOUR and ROCKET LET WIN were all taken across behind runners.
KABAYAN began awkwardly.
Approaching the 1000 Metres, CHOICE TREASURE was checked out away from the heels of KABAYAN which itself shifted out, resulting in SICHUAN VIGOUR, which was travelling keenly, shifting out abruptly away from CHOICE TREASURE. ROCKET LET WIN, which was following, was inconvenienced in consequence.
In the early part of the Straight, JUN GONG raced with its head on the side and near the 350 Metres was initially reluctant to shift to the outside of FIONN’S TREASURE into clear running. JUN GONG continued to lay in under pressure in the Straight.
Throughout the race, FIONN’S TREASURE travelled wide and without cover.
When questioned, Z Purton stated that BOBO DRAGON was more relaxed behind the barriers than it had been in its previous races. He said BOBO DRAGON began well and he was able to lead easily with ARRIVED AHEAD to his outside. He said BOBO DRAGON travelled strongly in the lead although the horse did not fully relax with ARRIVED AHEAD to its outside, however, it had previously raced well in the same circumstances. He said BOBO DRAGON showed a good turn of foot after the 400 Metres, however, came under pressure prior to the 200 Metres and over the concluding stages was disappointing in the manner in which it failed to close off strongly. A veterinary inspection of BOBO DRAGON immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
BOBO DRAGON, TOUR DE FORCE and FIONN’S TREASURE were sent for sampling.
<16/9/2013 Additional Veterinary Report>The Clinical Veterinary Surgeon reported that ARRIVED AHEAD was found to be lame in its left front leg on the morning after racing. Before being allowed to race again, ARRIVED AHEAD will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
