Racing Incident Report
Pla. | Horse No. | Horse | Incident |
| 10 | CASA COSMO (G436) | After the race, the Veterinary Surgeon reported that CASA COSMO was found to have sustained an injury to the left front fetlock. Before being allowed to race again, CASA COSMO will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. Sent for sampling post-race. |
| 5 | REACH GOAL (G067) | Sent for sampling post-race. |
| 1 | DEVAS TWELVE (H435) | Jumped awkwardly. A Atzeni (CIRCUIT BLAZING) pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding [Rule 100(1)] in that near the 900 Metres he allowed his mount to shift in when insufficiently clear of NINJA DERBY, resulting in NINJA DERBY being crowded for room and taken in across the running of DEVAS TWELVE, resulting in DEVAS TWELVE having to be checked. A Atzeni was suspended from riding in races for a period to commence on Sunday, 31 March 2024 and to expire on Thursday, 4 April 2024 on which day he may resume race riding (2 Hong Kong racedays). In assessing penalty, the Stewards determined the carelessness grade 2 and the consequences grade 2 and also considered his good race riding record. Sent for sampling post-race. |
| 9 | FRUITY WARRIOR (J035) | From the 400 Metres until the 200 Metres was badly held up for clear running. |
| 2 | SATIRICAL GLORY (H073) | When questioned, B Thompson stated that his instructions were to hold a forward position preferably with cover, but he was given the option to allow his mount to lead if it did not settle in the early stages. He said after being crossed by NINJA DERBY and obtaining cover near the 1200 Meres SATIRICAL GLORY then commenced to race keenly, got its head up and was steadied away from NINJA DERBY for some distance thereafter. Trainer D A Hayes confirmed the instructions issued and advised that once SATIRICAL GLORY had been crossed by FOREVER GLORIOUS in the early stages, he agreed with Jockey Thompson that there was not an opportunity to allow SATIRICAL GLORY to lead the event and in hindsight SATIRICAL GLORY would be better suited by being able to dictate terms in the lead. SATIRICAL GLORY continued to over-race throughout the middle stages and refused to settle. Near the 1000 Metres was momentarily crowded by FURY AND GOLD which shifted in before being corrected by its rider H Bentley. |
| 12 | FLYING SILVER (E478) | Jumped awkwardly and from a wide barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages. Leaving the 200 Metres was steadied and directed to the outside of the heels of NINJA DERBY when that runner shifted out. |
| 13 | FOREVER FOLKS (G463) | On the Home Turn was held up for clear running. Near the 250 Metres was checked to avoid CIRCUIT BLAZING when that runner gave ground in front. |
| 3 | SPECIAL HEDGE (H354) | Shortly after the start was crowded by NINJA DERBY which shifted in and as a result made contact with the hindquarters of FOREVER GLORIOUS. Near the 1000 Metres was steadied away from FURY AND GOLD and was then shifted out to avoid that runner’s heels. From the 700 Metres raced wide and without cover. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. C L Chau pleaded guilty to a careless riding charge for causing interference near the 300 Metres (see CHATEAU). |
| 8 | WINNING STEPS (G420) | Slow to begin. From the 350 Metres until the 200 Metres was held up when being directed to the outside to obtain clear running. |
| 14 | NINJA DERBY (H339) | Crowded near the 900 Metres. |
| 6 | FOREVER GLORIOUS (G229) | Bumped on the hindquarters shortly after the start. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. |
| 11 | CHATEAU (H214) | Near the 1000 Metres was taken wider by SPECIAL HEDGE and was then obliged to race wide and without cover for the remainder of the event. C L Chau (SPECIAL HEDGE) pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding [Rule 100(1)] in that near the 300 Metres he allowed his mount to shift in when not clear of CHATEAU, resulting in CHATEAU having to be checked to avoid SPECIAL HEDGE and being taken in, crowding the running of CIRCUIT BLAZING. C L Chau was suspended from riding in races for a period to commence on Wednesday, 3 April 2024 and to expire on Monday, 8 April 2024 on which day he may resume race riding (2 Hong Kong racedays). In assessing penalty, the Stewards determined the carelessness grade 2 and the consequences grade 2 and also considered his good race riding record. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. |
| 4 | CIRCUIT BLAZING (H479) | Crowded near the 300 Metres when giving ground. A Atzeni pleaded guilty to a careless riding charge for causing interference near the 900 Metres (see DEVAS TWELVE). |
| 7 | FURY AND GOLD (H202) | After the race, H Bentley reported that when he felt there was something amiss with his mount on the Home Turn, he eased it out of the event when not in a competitive position. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. The performance of FURY AND GOLD, which finished tailed out, was considered unacceptable. Before being allowed to race again, FURY AND GOLD will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. Sent for sampling post-race. |
