Racing Incident Report
NORTH HILL was crowded for room at the start between LAMBRO and OUTDOOR PEGASUS, both of which shifted ground. After this, NORTH HILL was taken across behind runners to obtain a position closer to the rail. SEMOS was crowded for room at the start between HANDSOME ZULU and BEST FRIEND which shifted in. From the outside barrier, TREASURE LANDS was taken across behind runners shortly after the start. Near the 1200 Metres, HAPPY BOY became unbalanced after being heavily bumped by HANDSOME ZULU (H W Lai) which after being crossed by SILVER GRECIAN shifted out when that horse was steadied. H W Lai was severely reprimanded and advised that, in the opinion of the Stewards, he should have made more of an effort to steady away from the heels of SILVER GRECIAN rather than shifting to that horse’s outside which resulted in the contact with HAPPY BOY. C W Wong (YUE LU TREASURE) dropped his whip passing the 300 Metres. For some distance near the 150 Metres, SEMOS raced tight between FAT CHOY OOHLALA and HAPPY BOY which at this time got its head on the side and shifted out. For the majority of the race, BEST FRIEND and OUTDOOR PEGASUS travelled wide and without cover. When questioned, G Mossé (HAPPY BOY) stated that it had been intended for the horse to be ridden in a position just in front of midfield. He said however that when the pace of the race in the early stages was only fair, his mount commenced to over-race and for this reason he allowed HAPPY BOY to stride forward into a more forward position. SICHUAN SUCCESS and SEMOS were sent for sampling.
