Racing Incident Report

CARRY THE MAGIC and A-TACK were slow to begin. UNIVERSAL KOMISSAR began awkwardly, got its head up and lost ground. On jumping, GIFTED RUNNER blundered. Shortly after the start, CLASSIC HORSE lost its position after making contact with ONLY YOU which shifted in away from UNIVERSAL KOMISSAR. After the 200 Metres, ONLY YOU was momentarily steadied when crowded for room between SUPREMACY and ZEONIC FRONTIER. Also after the 200 Metres, CLASSIC HORSE was steadied away from the heels of MIRACULOUS which shifted in. Near the 100 Metres, A-TACK and GIFTED RUNNER were carried wider by TOP BRASS which shifted to the outside of UNIVERSAL KOMISSAR to continue going forward. When questioned, B Prebble (CARRY THE MAGIC) said the horse, which was having its first race start, travelled somewhat greenly and was inclined to hang out in the run. He said because of this he changed the whip into his left hand near the 500 Metres, shortly afterwards commenced to ride CARRY THE MAGIC along and was following MIRACULOUS. He said he was aware CLASSIC HORSE was racing to his inside which he felt might finish the race off and AMERICAN VICTORY was to his outside and prior to the 300 Metres that horse came under heavy pressure. He said as he had previously ridden AMERICAN VICTORY and on that occasion the horse had raced greenly and on a number of occasions shifted ground, he considered that horse might shift in given its previous history and close the run which was available to the outside of MIRACULOUS. He said because of this near the 300 Metres he shifted to the inside of MIRACULOUS to take a run between that horse and CLASSIC HORSE, however, as he did so MIRACULOUS commenced to shift in, resulting in CARRY THE MAGIC at the 200 Metres being disappointed for running and checked.  He said after this CARRY THE MAGIC closed the race off fairly. After viewing the videos, B Prebble conceded that he had erred in attempting to obtain a run on the inside of MIRACULOUS as with the benefit of hindsight AMERICAN VICTORY did not shift ground and there was always running available to the outside of MIRACULOUS. The Stewards told B Prebble that his riding had come under notice and he must at all times position his mounts so as to provide them with clear running where possible and that he should not ride in a manner which is open to query. CLASSIC HORSE was sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of CLASSIC HORSE after the race did not show any significant findings. PICTURE PERFECT and UNIVERSAL KOMISSAR were sent for sampling.
