Racing Incident Report

KENOBE was slow to begin and shortly after the start was hampered when FIRST DEGREE was taken in by OURAJA which in turn was taken in by HAPPY SUNDAY which shifted in slightly. OBVIOUSLY proved difficult to settle in the early stages and got its head up on a number of occasions. Near the 700 Metres, KENOBE became unbalanced when awkwardly placed close to the heels of OKEYDOKEY. OBVIOUSLY commenced to hang out making the turn at the 600 Metres and continued to do so until entering the Straight. Near the 150 Metres, ROCKET AND GOLD was momentarily awkwardly placed close to the heels of LUCKY MAN. Throughout the race, HAPPY SUNDAY travelled wide and without cover. When questioned regarding the improved performance of OURAJA, Trainer D J Hall stated in his opinion OURAJA had benefited from the addition of side winkers as the horse was a lot more settled in the Parade Ring prior to the event tonight. He stated he believed OURAJA had also benefited from a stronger rider. He added whilst he anticipated a more forward showing tonight, he was unsure how the horse would run at the minimum trip. O Doleuze (TOP STITCH) stated his mount was very fractious in the barriers and as the gates opened the horse threw its head in the air which resulted in him becoming unbalanced in the saddle. He stated shortly after the start TOP STITCH again threw its head in the air and because of this lost considerable ground. He said for this reason he was unable to lead as instructed. TOP STITCH and OBVIOUSLY were sent for an official veterinary inspection. After the race, TOP STITCH was examined by the Veterinary Officer. He said an endoscopic examination showed a substantial amount of mucopus in the horse's trachea. A veterinary inspection of OBVIOUSLY after the race did not show any significant findings. OURAJA and PERFECT TREASURE were sent for sampling.
