Racing Incident Report

Just prior to the gates opening, LUCKY STRAVINSKY got its head down. LUCKY STRAVINSKY then began awkwardly and lost ground. MY SAY began awkwardly. Shortly after the start, FLYING GENERAL was crowded for room between WINE WIN and BEAUTY PLUS which shifted out. A short distance after the start, SCOOT DA LOOT shifted out and bumped VICTORY CODE. Making the first turn, SCOOT DA LOOT shifted out, resulting in VICTORY CODE being taken wider. FLYING GENERAL, which was following VICTORY CODE, was hampered in consequence. After this, SCOOT DA LOOT raced wide on the track and making the turn at the 600 Metres hung out badly. The performance of SCOOT DA LOOT was considered unacceptable. Before being permitted to race again, SCOOT DA LOOT will have to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in an official barrier trial around a bend. In the early and middle stages, MY SAY travelled wide and without cover. At the entrance to the Straight, FLYING GENERAL was shifted out in an endeavour to find clear running. Shortly after entering the Straight, BEAUTY PLUS was checked when disappointed for running between LUCKY STRAVINSKY and TOFFEE, both of which shifted ground. In this incident, LUCKY STRAVINSKY and TOFFEE bumped. No action was taken. When questioned, G Mossé (WINE WIN) stated from a wide barrier he rode his mount along in the early stages to lead as instructed. He said runners to his inside were also hard ridden to maintain their position and for this reason he was unable to cross runners to his inside. He stated after riding WINE WIN along in the early stages, he was reluctant to ride hard to cross runners as the horse was up in grade and carrying 125 lbs. He added for these reasons WINE WIN travelled wide and without cover throughout the race and consequently was not able to finish the race off. M Nunes (BEAUTY PLUS) stated he was instructed to ensure he obtained cover with BEAUTY PLUS in the early stages. He stated at its most recent start the horse from a similar barrier was obliged to race wide in the early and middle stages and consequently was not able to finish the race off. Apprentice K L Chui (LUCKY STRAVINSKY) stated after beginning awkwardly he rode his mount along to obtain a forward position. He said LUCKY STRAVINSKY travelled satisfactorily throughout the race, however, came under pressure rounding the Home Turn and in the Straight failed to close the race off. LUCKY STRAVINSKY was sent for an official veterinary inspection and sampling. SCOOT DA LOOT and TREASURE COLT were sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of LUCKY STRAVINSKY and SCOOT DA LOOT after the race did not show any significant findings. After the race, TREASURE COLT was examined by the Veterinary Officer. He said an endoscopic examination showed a substantial amount of blood in the horse's trachea. Before being allowed to race again, TREASURE COLT will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. PROPELLOR and ENCORE WIN were sent for sampling.
