Racing Incident Report

Whilst in the saddling stalls, PROSPERITY AETHON had its right front plate refitted. PROSPERITY AETHON was examined by the Veterinary Officer who said in his opinion it was suitable to race.
COLUMBUS LINE was slow to begin.
As the start was effected, KHARU, which was fractious in the barriers, lifted its front feet off the ground and on landing shifted out and made contact with the hindquarters of TRIUMPHANT DRAGON, resulting in both horses becoming unbalanced.
Shortly after the start, MEDIC SWORDSMAN was taken across behind runners.
After travelling a short distance after the start, ALMIGHTY SUN was steadied when crowded for room between DEHERE’S THE LOVE which shifted out and THUNDER POWER which shifted in after being bumped by POSITIVE ENERGY which began awkwardly. In this incident, THUNDER POWER also became badly unbalanced when bumped on the hindquarters by ALMIGHTY SUN.
Approaching the 1000 Metres, ALMIGHTY SUN, which was racing with its head on the side, was steadied when racing in restricted room inside PROSPERITY AETHON which was directed in by DEHERE’S THE LOVE which was racing tight inside K-MOOCHI which was racing tight inside DINING STAR.
Passing the 1000 Metres, P J HALL got its head up when awkwardly placed close to the heels of THUNDER POWER.
For some distance after the 700 Metres and particularly rounding the Home Turn, K-MOOCHI got its head on the side and lay out.
Approaching the 600 Metres, FRESH AIR was shifted in away from the heels of POSITIVE ENERGY. For some distance after this, FRESH AIR was awkwardly placed close to the heels of that horse.
Rounding the Home Turn, KHARU was shifted out in an attempt to improve its position and in doing so bumped the hindquarters of P J HALL, causing both horses to become unbalanced.
At the 400 Metres, POSITIVE ENERGY got its head on the side and shifted in towards the heels of PROSPERITY AETHON when commencing to give ground.
In the Straight, ALMIGHTY SUN raced greenly and at the 100 Metres shifted out and bumped COLUMBUS LINE.
Also in the Straight, DINING STAR raced greenly and lay in under pressure.
After the race, an endoscopic examination was conducted on PROSPERITY AETHON at the request of Trainer P F Yiu. The Veterinary Surgeon said this examination showed a substantial amount of blood in the horse's trachea. Before being allowed to race again, PROSPERITY AETHON will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
A veterinary inspection of ALMIGHTY SUN immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
K-MOOCHI and DINING STAR were sent for sampling.
