Racing Incident Report

C Brown, the declared rider of SWEET VICTORY, was found to be excessively overweight. Permission was granted for J Egan to be substituted. Subsequently C Brown was fined $4,000 for accepting the ride which he was found to be overweight. SWEET VICTORY was slowly away. When the gates opened, CHARITY FIRST bounded in the air and landed awkwardly. As a consequence of this, Apprentice S K Sit was unbalanced in the saddle. HOLE IN ONE jumped awkwardly and threw its head about. Turning out of the Straight the first time, RIGHT ON, which was awkwardly placed between the hindquarters of JEWEL OF KENTUCKY and HAPPY ECLIPSE, shifted out slightly, struck the heels of HAPPY ECLIPSE and knuckled. Some inconvenience was caused to HOLE IN ONE which was following. In the opinion of the Stewards, the occurrence was accidental and no action was taken. In the early stages, HAPPY ECLIPSE proved very difficult to settle and raced with its head in the air. Near the 600 Metres, HOLE IN ONE was checked after becoming unbalanced and hanging out onto the heels of PRETTY BABY. Throughout the race, SINCERELY YOURS was obliged to travel wide and without any cover. SINCERELY YOURS was sent for clinical veterinary examination and routine testing.
