Racing Incident Report

Before being presented in the Parade Ring, LATIN DANCER had its off side hind shoe refitted. MISSION SEALED left the gates very awkwardly with its head up. CHEEKY jumped very awkwardly, shifted out across the running of MISSION SEALED, causing that horse to be further inconvenienced. On jumping, TAI PO FRIEND bounded in the air, shifted out slightly and made contact with SHERDIL. LATIN DANCER was slowly away. About the 1000 Metres, SUNNY became unbalanced and lost its position when being checked off the heels of TOP OF THE CROWN (W M Lai) which steadied in front. The Stewards agreed there were some circumstances involved and W M Lai was not fully responsible for the manner in which TOP OF THE CROWN steadied up, however, he was told to ease up in the face of other runners can cause unnecessary trouble. About the 900 Metres, TAI PO FRIEND became unbalanced when being steadied to avoid the heels of CALIFORNIA KID (D Dunn) which shifted in when not quite clear. D Dunn was reprimanded and told he must exercise more care when shifting ground. R Fradd (TAI PO FRIEND) said after being steadied near the 900 Metres, the horse, which was still inclined to be green in its races, dropped the bit, was ridden much harder than he would have wished to try and keep up. From just after the 600 Metres, CHEEKY commenced to hang out badly and just after the 400 Metres again shifted out, this caused some inconvenience to SHERDIL. In the early part of the Straight, MUNDAHISH was unbalanced when momentarily awkward on the heels of AFICIONADO. TAI PO FRIEND was sent for clinical veterinary examination and testing. After the race, the Veterinary Surgeon said TAI PO FRIEND was bleeding from the mouth. He said this was as a result of lacerations to the lower lip.
