Racing Incident Report

BEAR DOMINANCE began awkwardly and bumped the outside gate of its stall. On jumping, MOMENTUM got its head up and lost ground. Also n jumping, PEAK POWER shifted out and bumped CHEERFUL HEART. TOP PRIZE was slow to begin. At the 1600 Metres, MOMENTUM was steadied when awkwardly placed inside the heels of BEAR DOMINANCE. Near the 1400 Metres and again after the 1200 Metres, NORTHERNER was steadied when awkwardly placed close to the heels of SPRINTER. In the early stages, ZERUBBABEL raced wide and without cover. Making the turn at the 800 Metres, CHEERFUL HEART became unbalanced after laying in and bumped the running rail. Making the Home Turn, TOP PRIZE hung out. Just prior to straightening, MOMENTUM was steadied when awkwardly placed close to the heels of KINGFIELD. On straightening, CHEERFUL HEART bumped the running rail when tight inside the heels of ZERUBBABEL. For a considerable distance after straightening, PEAK POWER was held up and unable to obtain clear running behind SPRINTER. Near the 300 Metres, PEAK POWER was steadied when unable to improve between SPRINTER and NORTHERNER, then after the 300 Metres was checked when disappointed for running between NORTHERNER which shifted in slightly and SPRINTER which at this time was carried out by CHEERFUL HEART (S Dye). As the Stewards were satisfied PEAK POWER had not properly established running between SPRINTER and NORTHERNER, no direct action was taken, however, S Dye was told to exercise more care. For a considerable distance after the 300 Metres, PERFETTO was held up and unable to obtain clear running between NORTHERNER and CONNOISSEUR'S LOVE. At the 200 Metres, SPRINTER, which was commencing to give ground, was steadied away from the heels of CHEERFUL HEART. In the run to the line, PERFETTO continued to be awkwardly placed behind CONNOISSEUR'S LOVE and because of this was not properly tested. SPRINTER was sent for an official veterinary inspection. After the race, SPRINTER was examined by the Veterinary Officer. He said the horse had sustained lacerations to its left hind heel and coronet. PERFETTO, TRAVEL LEADER and BEAR DOMINANCE were sent for sampling.
