Racing Incident Report

MIRACLES was slow to begin, then began awkwardly. Shortly after the start, REAL PARTNER was checked when crowded for room between LUCKY GALLOPER and SANBENITO which itself was hampered and carried in by DASHING THUNDER which in turn was carried in by SOLAR EMPIRE which on jumping got its head on the side and shifted ground. Near the 1000 Metres, HAPI HAPI was momentarily crowded for room inside FAST TRACK. From a gate towards the outside, LASER GLORY raced wide and without cover throughout. From shortly after straightening until near the 200 Metres, DASHING THUNDER was held up and unable to obtain clear running between LASER GLORY and FAST TRACK. Near the 200 Metres, COP HILL LAD was steadied when crowded for room between EASTKOWLOON SPIRIT which shifted in and REAL PARTNER which shifted out. Near the 100 Metres, LUCKY LAD, which was closing the race off fairly, was steadied and shifted out to avoid the heels of SOLAR EMPIRE which was giving ground. Throughout the race, EASTKOWLOON SPIRIT was held wide by COP HILL LAD. H K Yim (COP HILL LAD) explained he had been instructed to remain racing one horse away from the running rail as it was felt this would provide him with options to make his run on either the outside or the inside. He said when racing at Sha Tin previously the riding instructions had been similar for this horse. He said he rode COP HILL LAD in accordance with the instructions issued and remained racing away from the rail. REAL PARTNER, SANBENITO and DASHING THUNDER were sent for sampling.
