Racing Incident Report

After arriving at the Start, NOBLE WIND, which had slipped when leaving the Parade Ring, was examined by the Veterinary Surgeon. He said in his opinion the horse was suitable to race. NOBLE WIND began awkwardly, bumped the inside gate of its stall and lost ground. Near the 1200 Metres, NOBLE WIND became unbalanced when crowded for room inside DANEHILL WARRIOR. For some distance after this, NOBLE WIND raced awkwardly when close to the heels of ASSET PLAY. In the middle stages, PRESENT TREASURE got its head on the side and raced ungenerously. At the 600 Metres, RAINBOW DIAMOND became unbalanced and bumped the running rail. Shortly after straightening, CONNOISSEUR'S LOVE was checked when disappointed for running between FLAMING LAMBORGINI and DANEHILL WARRIOR which when giving ground shifted in slightly. No action was taken. Approaching the 200 Metres, SPEEDING MOLLY was shifted to the outside of KING OF THE TURF to obtain clear running. In the Straight, NOBLE WIND hung in and near the 200 Metres shifted away from FLAMING LAMBORGINI and was steadied to avoid the heels of ASSET PLAY. For some distance near the 100 Metres, RAINBOW DIAMOND was steadied when unable to improve between SURVEYOR and ASSET PLAY which was giving ground. Throughout the race, TIRAMISU raced wide and without cover. Apprentice M W Leung (GOODWOOD) explained he had been instructed because of the anticipated strong pace to ride the horse midfield with cover if possible. He said GOODWOOD began well, he allowed it to drift back to midfield in the hope of obtaining a position with cover. He said after passing the winning post on the first occasion he obtained a position behind PRESENT TREASURE and outside CONNOISSEUR'S LOVE, however, this was three wide, he therefore elected to come back further and shift in behind CONNOISSEUR'S LOVE and consequently was slightly further back than anticipated. He said after this at no stage of the race did GOODWOOD travel well and in the Straight failed to close the race off. DANEHILL WARRIOR was sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of DANEHILL WARRIOR after the race did not show any significant findings. FLAMING LAMBORGINI and SPEEDING MOLLY were sent for sampling.
Additional Veterinary Reports (released on 11 May 2005)
DANEHILL WARRIOR, which performed poorly, was examined by the Senior Veterinary Officer. He said at that time there were no significant findings. DANEHILL WARRIOR was again examined by the Senior Veterinary Officer at the stables of Trainer K W Lui this morning. He said at this time he noted the horse to be mildly lame in the right front leg. Before being permitted to race again, DANEHILL WARRIOR will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
