Racing Incident Report

CLASSIC KING bounded in the air at the start and lost ground. MILLION SUCCESS got its head up on jumping. SUPER IDEAL began awkwardly and lost ground. Near the 1200 Metres, MILLION SUCCESS was bumped by VITALITY CHAMP which endeavoured to shift away from the rail when following FIGS. Making the Home Turn, POSA, which had initially been shifted towards the outside, was steadied and shifted back in to avoid the heels of HEROIC ATTRIBUTE which at this time was giving ground. For some distance after this, POSA was held up and unable to improve, then after straightening was shifted to the inside of KNIGHT TEMPLAR. Making the Home Turn and in the early part of the Straight, KNIGHT TEMPLAR was held up and unable to improve. After the 400 Metres, FIGS, which was giving ground, was checked when crowded for room between VITALITY CHAMP which had improved on its inside and FAVOURITE RETURN (Apprentice H W Lai) which when also giving ground shifted in away from MILLION SUCCESS. Apprentice Lai was told to exercise greater care. SUPER IDEAL, which was following FIGS, was steadied and shifted out away from that horse. Near the 300 Metres, MAIN ATTRACTION and KNIGHT TEMPLAR were steadied when crowded for room between FANTASTIC WIN which shifted in and SNIPER (W M Lai) which at this time was shifted to the outside of PACIFIC ALLIANCE to continue improving. W M Lai was reprimanded and told to exercise greater care. Approaching and passing the 300 Metres, POSA was having difficulty obtaining clear running and was then steadied and shifted to the inside of PACIFIC ALLIANCE where it was able to continue improving. At the 250 Metres, MILLION SUCCESS, which was shifted in, was bumped and hampered by VITALITY CHAMP (D Whyte) which at this time while being ridden along was shifted to the outside of FAST TRACK in an attempt to obtain clear running. After this, VITALITY CHAMP became unbalanced as a result of MILLION SUCCESS attempting to hold its line and FAST TRACK also became unbalanced after being bumped by VITALITY CHAMP. D Whyte was severely reprimanded and told whilst the Stewards appreciate competitive riding there is a limit to how far one can go. K S Yu (FANTASTIC WIN) pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding [Rule 100(1)] in that near the 150 Metres he permitted his mount to shift in when not clear of KNIGHT TEMPLAR, causing that horse to lose its rightful running and be checked. K S Yu was suspended from riding in races for a period to expire on Monday 21 November 2005 on which day he may resume race riding (3 Hong Kong racedays). The commencement of the suspension was deferred until after the Sha Tin racemeeting next Wednesday 9 November 2005. Near the 100 Metres, C Munce (POSA) dropped his right rein. As he was re-gathering this rein, POSA was bumped by SNIPER which shifted in away from FANTASTIC WIN after having initially been carried in by that horse. For the major part of the race, MAIN ATTRACTION and PACIFIC ALLIANCE raced wide and without cover. PACIFIC ALLIANCE was sent for an official veterinary inspection. After the race, PACIFIC ALLIANCE was examined by the Veterinary Officer. He said the horse was not sweating ("dry-coated") and was blowing hard. Before being allowed to race again, PACIFIC ALLIANCE will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. MILLION SUCCESS and VITALITY CHAMP were sent for sampling.
