Racing Incident Report
REUNION, which was fractious in its gate, did not begin well and followed TRUST ME forward, then shifted to the outside of that horse near the 900 Metres. After this, REUNION proved very difficult to settle for some distance, then in the Straight gave ground. REUNION was sent for an official veterinary inspection and sampling. After the race, REUNION was examined by the Veterinary Officer. He said an endoscopic examination showed a substantial amount of mucopus in the horse's trachea. Before being allowed to race again, REUNION will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. Making the turn at the 700 Metres, SPACE SHUTTLE was checked when crowded for room between COP HILL LAD which shifted out and BRAVE KNIGHT which shifted in slightly when racing tight inside the heels of CALIFORNIA HEART. No action was taken. After the 700 Metres, EASY GAME hung out. At the 600 Metres, BRAVE KNIGHT was steadied away from the heels of REUNION. On straightening, CALIFORNIA HEART was steadied and shifted out away from the heels of THE ELEGANT GREY. At the 250 Metres, ABLE STANDARD was steadied when bumped by THE ELEGANT GREY which shifted in when giving ground. For the major part of the race, THE ELEGANT GREY hung out. JOLLY GOOD FORTUNE and TAIJI SPIRIT were sent for sampling.
