Racing Incident Report

SALUT BEAUTE began awkwardly, got its head up, shifted out abruptly and caused inconvenience to KINGSTON MARBLE which as a result lost ground. On jumping, FLYING TAMARI shifted out and bumped SANZIRO. LUCKY STRAVINSKY bounded in the air at the start, then shortly afterwards lost further ground when bumped by THE ELEGANT GREY which shifted out after being bumped by DR POSSI which in turn was bumped by DREAM HORSE which after being fractious in the gates began awkwardly and shifted out abruptly. After the 800 Metres, G Mossé reached down with his left hand and adjusted his foot in the stirrup. Near the 400 Metres, LUCKY STRAVINSKY was shifted in away from DREAM HORSE which at this stage came under pressure and commenced to give ground. Over the final 400 Metres, THE ELEGANT GREY hung in. When questioned regarding the poor performance of DREAM HORSE, F Coetzee said after the horse began badly it did not travel well at any stage. He said DREAM HORSE was under pressure for the majority of the race and whilst it did not feel abnormal in its action failed to respond to his riding. He said in the lead up to this race as always DREAM HORSE proves very difficult to ride in the mornings on the track, however, its work in his opinion had been good. DREAM HORSE was sent for an official veterinary inspection and sampling. After the race, DREAM HORSE was examined by the Veterinary Officer. He said the horse was making an abnormal breathing noise which was suggestive of a displacement of the soft palate and an endoscopic examination showed a substantial amount of blood in the horse's trachea. Before being allowed to race again, DREAM HORSE will have to perform satisfactorily in an official barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. LUCKY STRAVINSKY was sent for an official veterinary inspection. Also after the race, LUCKY STRAVINSKY was examined by the Veterinary Officer. He said an endoscopic examination showed a substantial amount of mucopus in the horse's trachea. Before being allowed to race again, LUCKY STRAVINSKY will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. FLYING TAMARI and SUPER PRINCE were sent for sampling.
