Racing Incident Report
The Veterinary Officer reported JOYFUL LIFE was examined after arriving at the Parade Ring. He said the horse was lame in the left front leg. Acting on this advice, the Stewards ordered the withdrawal of JOYFUL LIFE. Before being allowed to race again, JOYFUL LIFE will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. ZAVONE proved very difficult to load. Before being allowed to race again, ZAVONE will have to perform satisfactorily in an official barrier trial. ZAVONE was slow to begin, then in the early and middle stages proved difficult to settle. ENGINEERING WONDER was slow to begin. JOLLY GOOD FORTUNE was a little slow to begin and shortly afterwards was crowded for room between GENKI KING and GOLDEN CARE. FIFTY FIFTY began awkwardly. After the 500 Metres, HELENE ELEGANCE was steadied when crowded for room between LIBERAL'S KNIGHT and GENKI KING, both of which shifted ground. Prior to straightening, GENKI KING became unbalanced after bumping with LIBERAL'S KNIGHT due to GENKI KING shifting out in an endeavour to obtain clear running. No action was taken. At the 200 Metres, FIFTY FIFTY was shifted out away from JOLLY GOOD FORTUNE which at this time was giving ground. C Munce (GOLDEN CARE) explained he had been instructed if possible to ride the horse in about midfield with cover. He said from the outside barrier after bumping with JOLLY GOOD FORTUNE at the start GOLDEN CARE immediately commenced to over-race, he therefore elected to allow the horse to stride forward and race outside the leader to avoid being caught wide on the track in midfield. He said GOLDEN CARE in the middle stages hung out. FIFTY FIFTY was sent for an official veterinary inspection and sampling. JOLLY GOOD FORTUNE was sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of FIFTY FIFTY and JOLLY GOOD FORTUNE after the race did not show any significant findings. LIBERAL'S KNIGHT and LUCKY PARADISE were sent for sampling.
