Racing Incident Report

TURF GOLD began awkwardly and lost ground. MAGNIFICENT HORSE was slow into stride. MIRACLE DRAGON was slow to begin. Despite being ridden along in the early stages, BAYVIEW LAD failed to muster speed and got well back. For some distance approaching and passing the 1300 Metres, KINGSTON GLORY was steadied when awkwardly placed close to the heels of MILLENNIUM SUPREME which shifted in when barely clear. After this, KINGSTON GLORY proved difficult to settle. Near the 1200 Metres, TURF GOLD became unbalanced when being steadied away from the heels of ON SHAN EXPRESS. After the 400 Metres, TURF GOLD (Apprentice H W Lai), which was held up, was shifted to the outside of A BETTER DRAGON to obtain clear running. When TURF GOLD was shifted out, MIRACLE DRAGON which was racing to its outside was checked. Apprentice Lai was reprimanded and told to exercise greater care. MAGNIFICENT HORSE, which was following TURF GOLD, was steadied away from the heels of that horse. On straightening, A BETTER DRAGON was steadied and shifted to the inside of JUSTINIAN to obtain clear running. Also on straightening, TURF GOLD was disappointed for running when endeavouring to improve between ON SHAN EXPRESS and TOUCH DOWN. Over the final 150 Metres, ON SHAN EXPRESS hung in. At the 100 Metres, BAYVIEW LAD was shifted to the inside of KINGSTON GLORY to continue going forward. Throughout the race, ALL FIT travelled wide and without cover. When questioned, Y T Cheng (MILLENNIUM SUPREME) said he had been instructed to endeavour to have the horse begin well and if possible obtain a position behind KINGSTON GLORY which it was anticipated would lead the race. He said MILLENNIUM SUPREME began well, he rode along to go forward and the horse was able to cross and lead. Mr B K Ng, trainer of MILLENNIUM SUPREME, confirmed the riding instructions issued. He said at the horse's two most recent starts from wide barriers it had travelled back in the field. He said tonight from a better draw he anticipated MILLENNIUM SUPREME would be able to obtain a more forward position. Mr Ng was told he is to ensure horses trained by him are ridden in a consistent manner where circumstances permit. ON SHAN EXPRESS and MILLENNIUM SUPREME were sent for sampling. After the race, it was reported MAGNIFICENT HORSE had lost its left front plate.
